Al-Zaytouna Centre, represented by its General- Manager Prof. Dr. Mohsen Mohammad Saleh, participated in the 29th Ministerial Meeting of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), upon an invitation of the latter.
Meetings were held between 13–15/12/2016, in Doha, Qatar, on the theme: “2030 Agenda- Implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the National Level.”
First day sessions and part of the second day were expert meetings, while the rest of the second day and the third day were at ministerial level.
The draft strategic framework for the biennium 2018–2019, had been tackled, as well as the results from the 2016 Arab Forum for Sustainable Development. Issues like bringing justice to the Palestinian people, Israeli apartheid, developing a methodology to calculate the cumulative cost of the occupation, and the strategy work of media and communication to advocate for the Palestinian people, were also examined.
Other sessions focused on achieving social justice in the Arab region, gender mainstreaming in public institutions, and the impact of conflict and occupation on the implementation of the sustainable development goals…
Delegates of Arab countries and UN regional and international organizations participated in the event… in addition to some think tanks of which al-Zaytouna Centre was part of.
