The International Forum for Islamist Parliamentarians organized their second conference under the title “The Legitimacy of Change… and the Democratic Reform,” which was held in Langkawi, Malaysia, on 10-11/7/2011. The Conference brought together a large number of distinguished parliamentarians and representatives from various Muslim and Arab countries; Egypt, Algiers, Morocco, Sudan, Mauritania, Jordan, Palestine, Kuwait, Yemen, Bahrain, Iran, Pakistan, Indonesia, Malaysia, … and others.

The General Manager of al-Zaytouna Centre, Prof. Dr. Mohsen Mohammad Saleh presented a paper in the first session of the conference, entitled, “The Future of the Palestinian Issue in the light of the Winds of Change in the Arab World.” His paper covered eight major subtitles: The essence of the conflict with the Zionist project, the strategic threats to Israel, the implications of Arab changes on Arabs’ interaction with Palestinian issue, the implications of changes on the Palestinian attitude, the potential Israeli attitude vis-à-vis the changes in the Arab world, the potential American stance, and last point included a number of suggestions and recommendations.

The participating parliamentarians discussed the paper with interest and thoroughly, as it has focused on the strategic aspects and the future scenarios of the Palestinian issue.

It was noticeable that al-Zaytouna Centre and its activities were closely followed by many parliamentarians. They asserted their continuous interest in its publications and website. For them, it is one of the most important and trusted sources of information on the Palestinian issue.
