Al-Zaytouna Information & Archives Department in Beirut has issued an Arabic informational addition on the abduction of the Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit. The operation was called “Dissipating Illusion,” and was carried out by Ezzedeen Al-Qassam Brigades, the Popular Resistance Committees and the Army of Islam in the Gaza Strip. The file sheds light on the details of the kidnapping, the most important Israeli and Palestinian public and official reactions, and the Arab and international stances. Then, it explains the stages of the negotiating process, which ultimately led to the prisoners exchange deal “Faithfulness of Freemen Deal” and the most prominent reactions to it.
