A book discussion session, led by Prof. Dr. Mohsen Mohammad Saleh and Fatima Itani, was held on 25/9/2018 on the Al-Awda Book Club page on the Facebook Platform, which is one of the Facebook pages of The Academy of Refugee Studies. They discussed “The Separation Wall in the West Bank” book, which is part of the Am I Not a Human? Series.

Saleh first defined the Am I Not a Human? series and its features, then discussed the book, stating that the idea of establishing such wall was discussed years earlier by the Israelis, who suggested many forms. He added that the Separation Wall has political, economic, social and security objectives, describing its features.

Al-Zaytouna Researcher Fatima Itani discussed the legality of the Wall at the UN Security Council, UN General Assembly, and International Court of Justice at the Hague, where Israel considered the ICJ opinion non-binding. Itani surveyed the suffering of Palestinians, especially those within the Jerusalem Envelope, due to the Wall’s existence, and its impact on their economy, society, medical care services and education, as well as on the Palestinian farmers.
