Al-Zaytouna Centre for Studies and Consultations has published an academic paper by Amjad ‘Ubaidy and Laili Abu Rjaileh, entitled “Slow Killing: The Relationship Between Medical Negligence and the Martyrdom of the Palestinian Detainee in Captivity: Gilboa Prison,” in Arabic.

This paper analyzes the reasons of death of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons, focusing on medical negligence that leads to “slow killing.” It discusses the killing of prisoners, their struggle, the role of detainees and factions and all Palestinian sectors, in addition to the prisoners’ psychological state, and the reactions of the other detainees to the killing incidents.

It stresses the importance of activism in this regard within the captive movement, by various factions, and the importance of media and organized group work, on the legal, international, diplomatic and media levels, in addition to the importance of collaboration with all official, peace and public bodies, and all Palestinian civil society institutions.
