Al-Zaytouna Centre for Studies and Consultations has published an Arabic academic paper entitled “The Role of Cultural Committee in Occupation Prisons in Enhancing Positive Personality Features of Palestinian Detainees,” by Taher ‘Atweh.

This study aims at identifying the role of cultural committee in occupation prisons in enhancing positive personality features of Palestinian detainees. The researcher utilized the analytical descriptive method, suitable to the subject, and the interviews were the main tools.

The most important findings of the study: The prisoners were able to impose their cultural scene due to their decades-long struggle, where those who were released from prison were able to reach the top of the pyramid and become experts in Israeli affairs. Some of them have even specialized in studying Israel’s military, economic and political conditions, and large groups graduated as writers, poets, translators and leaders in various fields.

The study recommends enhancing the cultural programs provided for detainees based on determining their needs, potentials and tendencies; increasing the range of services provided to Palestinian detainees; collecting and documenting the detainees’ cultural activities in prisons; developing new cultural programs; and putting plans that promote detainees’ creative and cultural publications.
