Al-Zaytouna Centre for Studies and Consultations has published an Arabic academic paper entitled “Israeli Admissions of Genocide and Ethnic Cleansing: The Case of Gaza Strip,” by Ibrahim ‘Abdul Karim, a Palestinian researcher specializing in Israeli affairs and the Palestine issue.
Several international bodies and legal institutions have consistently affirmed that Israel has committed genocide and ethnic cleansing against Palestinians, both during and after the 1948 Nakbah and in the Gaza Strip (GS) today…However, for Israeli circles to confirm the commission of these two crimes is significant not only because it adds another voice to the global condemnation of Israel’s war of extermination, but also because this voice comes from within the very “state” conducting the war. This presents a “unique case” that directs scrutiny toward Israel’s political, military, social and other institutions.
This paper monitors and analyzes the international definition of genocide and ethnic cleansing, examining their applicability to Israel’s conflict with the Palestinians. It also explores how these crimes are framed in research and media, highlighting them as a distinct Israeli phenomenon. The study examines GS as a living applied research model, aiming to uncover the nature of this phenomenon, assess its feasibility for analysis, and explore its future prospects.
