Prof. Dr. Mohsen Mohammad Saleh, General-Manager of Al-Zaytouna Centre for Studies and Consultations, delivered an oral intervention in the first session of the second day, titled “Gaza after Two Years of War: The Resistance Project, Occupation Plans and Prospects for Internationalization,” as part of the 17th Al Jazeera Forum, “The Palestinian Cause and the Regional Balance of Power in the Context of an Emerging Multipolar World,” held on 8/2/2026, in Doha.

Saleh discussed the overall trajectory of the resistance, emphasizing that resistance has a “wave-like” character extending back to the beginning of the British occupation of Palestine 108 years ago. He noted that it does not cease but fluctuates, rising and falling, and argued that Operation al-Aqsa Flood represented the strongest wave in modern Palestinian history, with each successive wave surpassing the previous one.

Saleh cautioned against making a “strategic assessment” based solely on the current moment, stressing that Operation al-Aqsa Flood triggered comprehensive shifts that shook Israel’s security environment and undermined the very notions of its existence and legitimacy, rendering it globally isolated. He added that assessments should adopt a strategic perspective that considers long-term trajectories (Mega-trends) to avoid fostering a sense of despair.

He stressed that the resistance has not been defeated, noting that even Israelis have acknowledged the failure of their military plans in GS. The resistance has successfully replenished its fighters, and there is no foreseeable horizon for its defeat. He added that the Trump plan was not intended solely to halt Israeli massacres of Palestinians but also to rescue Israel from the quagmire in which it found itself.

While acknowledging the real dangers and immense suffering facing the Palestinian people, he highlighted their longstanding steadfastness and ability to emerge from crises, as demonstrated in 1982, 1987 and 1996. In each instance, the resistance rebounded and strengthened. He emphasized that the resistance represents a “qualitative value for the Ummah [Arab and Muslim nation]” and a “first line of defense” against the Zionist project and its expansion in the region, safeguarding the Arab strategic environment and preventing displacement.
