This report sheds the light on the issue of coordination between the Palestinian Authority in Ramallah and Israel in security issues, since the presidency of Yasser Arafat and until the current days. It also addresses the security arrangements as stated in Oslo Accords, the formation of the security bodies, then the “counter-terrorism” coordination after Sharm al-Sheikh Conference. The report also considers the period of Abbas’ presidency, the re-formation of the security bodies, and the various attempts and measures taken with the Road Map, then after Hamas’ victory in the Palestinian parliamentary elections. In this context, it mentions Dayton’s plan, especially in the WB following Hamas’ takeover of GS. The Information Report series was launched by the Information Department of al-Zaytouna Centre in early 2008. It aims at providing periodical, informative, concise and well-documented information set on selected issues of concern on the Arab and Muslim World, specifically the Palestinian issue. |
