Al-Zaytouna Centre for Studies and Consultations is pleased to congratulate the Suleiman Arar Commission Award for Thought and Culture on publishing the “The Concise Palestine Encyclopedia.” Professor Dr. Nasser Eddin al-Assad is the editor-in-chief and Dr. ‘Abdul ‘Aziz al-Sayyid Ahmad is the managing editor of the encyclopedia which was prepared and authored by 41 editors, researchers and correspondents.

The Encyclopedia documents the history of Palestine and its urban centers including its cities, towns and villages. It includes an appendix of maps of administrative divisions during the British mandate for Palestine, and a special entry on most notable Israeli settlements. In addition, the Encyclopedia displays the bibliography of the most notable figures and their pictures besides modern and contemporary political and historic events. The entries are arranged alphabetically, thus making the information easily accessible for students and the general educated audience.

Worth of mention is that al-Zaytouna Centre has participated in preparing the Encyclopedia, and Prof. Dr. Mohsen Mohammad Saleh, the Centre’s General Manager, authored around 70 academic materials and has performed academic editing on 160 materials.

Al-Zaytouna Centre salutes the great efforts made by all those who participated in the preparation of this Encyclopedia. The Centre considers it an important reference for all those concerned with the Palestinian issue.
