Working Papers of the Conference “The Islamists in the Arab World and the Palestinian Issue, In Light of the Arab Uprisings”

Al-Zaytouna Centre for Studies and Consultations publishes the working papers of the conference titled “The Islamists of the Arab World and the Palestinian Issue in Light of the Arab Uprisings” that was held in Beirut on 28-29/11/2012.

At the conference, up to 20 papers were presented by leaders of Islamist groups in Arab countries, especially countries that neighbor Occupied Palestine and those that witnessed uprisings as part of the Arab Spring, in addition to a distinguished group of researchers and academics.

Participants in the conference included political and academic figures from Palestine, Egypt, Tunisia, Jordan, Lebanon, Algeria, Morocco, Yemen, Saudi Arabia and Gulf countries, in addition to Turkey and Iran, among others.

The conference shed light on the new political map of the Arab region, and its impact on the Palestinian issue, and tried to identify the reality of the positions of Islamist movements vis-à-vis the question of Palestine, especially those that took office, and determine where Palestine ranks in their priorities, plans and programs.

The conference is also attempted to identify the main challenges faced by the Islamist vision for Palestine, and to highlight the opportunities offered by the process of change in the Arab world in this regard. Furthermore, it sought to reach the best possible scenario for dealing with the Palestinian issue, and confronting the Zionist project in light of the changes and revolutions taking place in the Arab world.
