Al-Zaytouna Centre for Studies & Consultations presents the academic study “The Palestinian Authority’s Policies Towards the Palestinian Resistance,” by Rabi‘ al-Dannan, a researcher specialized in the Palestinian issue, and a former head of the Archives and Information Department at al-Zaytouna Centre.

This study discusses the Palestinian Authority’s (PA) policies towards the Palestinian resistance 1994–2000, 2000–2007 and after the Hamas takeover of GS 2007–2013. Then, the author explores the PA’s policies towards the peaceful popular resistance.

In addition, and in the last section, the author explores how the issue of the prisoners and detainees in Israeli jails was managed, which memoranda and agreements tackled their release and how it was implemented. At the end, Dannan concludes that the armed resistance will most likely remain futile in the PA’s eyes, without being used as a lever to obtain Israeli concessions, or at least to ensure Israel’s implementation of its obligations.

This study is a academic study that was published in the Arabic book of al-Zaytouna “The Palestinian National Authority: A Study of the Experience and Performance 1994-2013,” edited by Prof. Dr. Mohsen Mohammad Saleh, 2014.

The study is available in Word & Pdf format.
