Al-Zaytouna Centre is pleased to present this peer-reviewed study, in Arabic, by Hanin Mrad, entitled “Migration of Palestinian Refugees From Syrian Camps During the Armed Conflict (2011–2016): A Survey Study of the Conditions of Syrian Palestinian Migrants to Europe.”
This study examines the conditions of Palestinian refugees who migrated from refugee camps in Syria to Europe during the armed conflict (2011–2016). It explores the factors driving their migration, the challenges they encountered during their journeys, and the difficulties they faced in their new host countries. It also examines their activities, their engagement with relevant organizations and institutions, and their views on the future of their presence in Europe.
The study finds that most respondents had not considered migration before the outbreak of the conflict. Instead, they identified deteriorating security conditions, uncertainty about the future, and the lack of a representative and protector for refugees as the main drivers of migration. Nevertheless, many expressed a desire to return once stability is restored in Syria.
