Al-Zaytouna Centre is pleased to present this peer-reviewed study, in Arabic, by Wael El Mabhouh, entitled “The Repercussions of the 1982 Israeli Invasion of Lebanon, on the Political Attitude of the PLO Until the Oslo Accords 1993: Analytical Study.”
The study examines the motives behind Israel’s 1982 aggression against Lebanon and its consequences for the PLO, particularly the resistance project. It further analyzes how the aggression shaped the PLO’s subsequent political conduct, culminating in the 1993 Oslo Accords.
The study is significant as one of the few to examine the direct impact of the 1982 Lebanon War on the PLO’s political conduct and its subsequent shift toward the peace process, culminating in the signing of the Oslo Accords in September 1993. It is particularly relevant to researchers of Palestine and scholars of strategic and military studies concerned with the political and operational consequences of war.
The researcher employed historical and descriptive methods, complemented by an analytical approach. The study subsequently identified several implications of the PLO’s withdrawal from Lebanon.
