Christians in Palestine are integral to the Palestinian national identity. They have played a significant role in the Palestinian struggle since the British occupation in 1917, and have actively participated in Islamic-Christian associations, contributing to the formation of Palestinian leadership and raising awareness about the threats posed by Zionism and British imperialism. Additionally, they have been involved in political activism and armed resistance against both British and Zionist occupations.

The recent genocidal assault on Gaza Strip since Operation al-Aqsa Flood on 7/10/2023 has underscored the unity between Muslims and Christians. Despite their religious differences, both communities in Gaza endure the horrors of war together, confronting an occupation that targets them indiscriminately.

Al-Zaytouna Centre for Studies and Consultations has released a new book entitled “The Revolutionary Priest Manuel Musallam: Listen, O Palestine,” by Mohammed Mohammed almasri. The 206-page book was originally a thesis submitted by the author for a master’s degree from the Department of History at the Islamic University of Gaza in 2023.

In this book, the author introduces Father Manuel Musallam as a prominent figure who played a significant national role within various national frameworks. The author sheds light on Father Manuel’s political stances regarding the Palestinian people’s issues, such as: Jerusalem and the holy sites, refugees, prisoners, settlements and the Palestinian resistance, etc. It’s also essential to emphasize Father Manuel’s efforts to reform the Palestinian political landscape, particularly the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and the Palestinian Authority (PA). Additionally, the book delves into Father Manuel’s efforts to address the Palestinian schism and advocate for the completion of Palestinian elections. It also examines his viewpoints on topics such as Christian Zionism, Israeli policies towards Palestinians, as well as Arab and international initiatives concerning the Palestine issue. Furthermore, the book explores Father Manuel’s contributions to charitable and cultural endeavors, along with his pivotal role in fostering Muslim-Christian relations in Palestine.
