The first chapter of the report, titled “The Internal Palestinian Situation,” examines various aspects of Palestine’s domestic dynamics. It covers the Palestinian Authority (PA) and its institutions, the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO), national actors in the public sphere, intra-Palestinian relations, the status of internal partisan forces, and security coordination, all within an analytical framework that explores these and related issues.

The second chapter presents Palestinian demographic and economic indicators, covering the global Palestinian population, demographic characteristics, population growth trends, as well as Palestinians living outside of Palestine and their right of return. Additionally, the chapter examines key economic indicators in the West Bank (WB) and Gaza Strip (GS), including Gross Domestic Product (GDP), GDP per capita, public debt, and the general budget. It also explores employment, unemployment, poverty, industrial and agricultural activities, trade, and the impact of foreign aid on the PA.

The third chapter focuses on the land and holy sites. It addresses Israeli actions targeting Islamic and Christian holy sites, the population in Jerusalem living under occupation, eviction attempts, Judaization efforts, settlement expansion in WB, the Separation Wall and barriers in the WB, and the demolition of houses and structures.

The fourth chapter covers aggression, resistance, and the peace process. It explores the brutality of the occupation under what is considered the most extremist Israeli government in the country’s history. The chapter highlights the intensification of resistance in WB and GS during 2022–2023, reviewing various resistance operations and battles, particularly Operation al-Aqsa Flood, and the most notable resistance groups in WB. It provides details on the number of Israeli and Palestinian casualties, both killed and wounded, in the WB and GS. Additionally, it examines the conditions of prisoners in Israeli prisons, the ongoing siege on the Palestinian people, and concludes with an analysis of developments in the peace process during the report’s period of coverage.

The fifth chapter examines “The Israeli Scene.” It reviews the most prominent Israeli developments at the political level, focusing on the internal situation and the events leading up to 7/10/2023, major security failures, and the war on GS. The chapter also explores Israeli demographic indicators such as population, Jewish immigration to Israel, the global Jewish population, as well as Israeli economic indicators like GDP, GDP per capita, government income and expenditure, trade, exports and imports, and US aid to Israel. Additionally, Israeli military indicators are analyzed, including appointments and structural changes, manpower, military plans and directions, maneuvers, arms and arms trade, and the military budget. The chapter concludes with a discussion of Israel’s stance on the internal Palestinian situation.

The sixth chapter examines the Palestine issue and the Arab world, focusing on the Arab League’s positions regarding various aspects of the Palestine issue: the peace process, Palestinian resistance, normalization, the internal Palestinian conflict, the reconciliation process, and Jerusalem. It also explores the stances of several Arab countries on related matters, including their evolving relations with Israel and their positions on Operation al-Aqsa Flood. Countries discussed include Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, the Gulf Arab states, Iraq, Yemen, Sudan, Algeria, Morocco, and others. Additionally, the chapter addresses popular Arab opinions and their trends.

Chapter seven addresses the Palestine issue within the context of the Muslim world, exploring the stance of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and several Muslim countries, including Malaysia, Pakistan and Indonesia, on the Palestine cause. The chapter focuses particularly on Turkey and Iran, analyzing Turkish foreign policy, Turkey’s relationship with Israel, and its position on Operation Al-Aqsa Flood. It also reviews Iran’s stance on Operation Al-Aqsa Flood and Israeli war in GS, while presenting the factors influencing Iran’s position on the Palestine issue. Additionally, the chapter examines popular Islamic responses to the Palestine issue, normalization, and Israeli relations with Muslim countries. The eighth chapter addresses the Palestine issue and the international scene, analyzing the positions of the UN, US, Russia, EU, China, India and the African Union, as well as their roles and the impact of international public opinion on Palestine before and after Operation al-Aqsa Flood. It also explores the future implications of the international community’s attitudes towards Palestine.

The PSR is one of the most important and comprehensive scientific studies on the Palestine issue, published periodically by al-Zaytouna Centre. It has become an essential reference for specialists and those interested in Palestinian affairs due to its thorough coverage of developments over two full years, adherence to strict scientific and professional standards, and wealth of accurate, updated information and statistics.
