The book Five Thousand Days in the World of Barzakh: The Memoirs of the Prisoner Hassan Abd al-Rahman Salameh in Solitary Confinement in Israeli Prisons won first place in the memoirs category at the second session of the Palestine World Prize for Literature.
The award results were announced on 16/12/2024 featuring wide cultural participation from writers, publishers, association leaders and Palestine activists across various countries. The competition received 360 submissions in seven languages from 26 countries, which were evaluated by specialized committees in three stages.
Al-Zaytouna Centre viewed this award as a tribute to Hassan Salameh, the author of the memoirs. It honors the resilience and suffering of the heroic prisoners in Israeli prisons while also recognizing the Centre’s pivotal role in documenting the Palestinian narrative and its contributions to political and strategic studies.
