Al-Zaytouna Centre has published an academic paper, in Arabic, titled “Strategies for Early Recovery and Reconstruction in Post-War Gaza,” by Dr. Raed Muhammad Hillis, a Palestinian researcher specializing in Palestinian economic affairs.
The paper explores the key challenges of post-war recovery in Gaza, focusing on effective strategies for early recovery and sustainable reconstruction. Central to these challenges are the ongoing Israeli blockade, which restricts the entry of essential reconstruction materials, and the difficulty of securing adequate funding. Further complicating the process are the extensive damage to infrastructure, economic sectors, and civilian areas, the accumulation of rubble, and the broader humanitarian and social crises.
It examines multiple key areas, including assessing the extent of damage and losses, identifying potential challenges to recovery and reconstruction, and developing integrated strategies for early recovery and rebuilding. It also analyzes the role of local and international actors and highlights the importance of a participatory approach to empower local communities, enhance transparency and accountability, and promote social justice in resource distribution. The study concludes with key findings and recommendations.
This paper serves as both an intellectual and practical contribution, aiming to develop a clear roadmap based on a precise analysis of the current conditions and challenges, with a strong emphasis on creative and innovative solutions that generate tangible and sustainable impact.
