The General-Manager of Al-Zaytouna Centre, Dr. Mohsen Moh’d Saleh, participated in a symposium on the changing regional and political landscape following the recent Arab uprisings, entitled “Critically Assessing the Changing Landscape of Power and Players,” that was held at the American University of Beirut, on 31/5 & 1/6/2012.

On the second day of the event, Dr. Saleh presented a paper discussing the stand of the Islamic Resistance Movement (HAMAS) on the changes in the Arab world.

The two-day symposium, which was held under the “Arab Uprisings Research Initiative,” launched by the Office of the Provost and managed by the Issam Fares Institute for Public Policy and International Affairs, addressed several topics including: Motivations Behind the Uprisings; Islamists, Coalitions and Governance; The Evolving GCC; Regional Shifts and International Institutions; The Uprisings Now: Resilience in Authoritarianism or Revolution?; Palestine and the Uprisings: Reconciliation, Reform and Representation.
