These are the memoirs of Dr. ‘Adnan Maswady who joined the MB Movement in the early fifties and was active in Islamic advocacy in the University of Damascus upon his study of medicine in Syria. He returned to Hebron in the early seventies and participated in 1978 in the foundation of Hamas movement.

Maswady was arrested several times in Israeli prisons, and he was expelled to Marj al-Zuhur in Lebanon, late 1992, where he was the deputy general commander of the Camp. He headed the administration of the Islamic Charitable Society for orphans. Maswady was arrested on 8/12/2010 by the Palestinian Authority security forces that released him after 11 days due to his deteriorating health. He died on 26/3/2011.

The book tries to reveal the impact of the new MB elites in changing the strategy of the MB movement towards the conflict with the Israeli occupation. The book is important in understanding the role of the MB in the WB in establishing Hamas movement.

The memoirs display the details of decision making within Hamas, the meetings of its first leadership, the formulation of its declarations, the drafting of Hamas Charter, and the coordination with the Unified National Leadership of the Uprising (UNLU). Maswady, thus, had
a prominent role in Hamas, as a guide, leader and educator.
